In 1976, Shelter Our Sisters was founded as an emergency shelter in Bergen County for women and their children escaping domestic violence. Since then, the organization has evolved to offer a full continuum of services that support individuals in their journey to healing. To acknowledge this shift beyond emergency shelter, in 2014 we changed our name to Center for Hope & Safety.
This year is our 10-year anniversary of that name change.
Those who seek services from Center for Hope & Safety have experienced emotional, psychological, physical, financial abuse and more. Our programs provide clients with the support and tools they need to feel empowered—to believe they can live safe, independent lives, free from the fear of abuse.
Take a moment to learn why Center for Hope & Safety is much more than a shelter.
