January marks a new year and a new start. It is a time for reflection, when life-changing decisions can happen. For victims of domestic violence, that can include taking the steps to leave an abusive relationship.

After managing to get through the holidays, when alcoholic consumption can contribute to an escalation in stress and abuse, domestic violence victims tend to reach out for help in January. As a result, we are anticipating a spike in calls to our hotline this month. Executive Director Julye Myner explains further during an interview with New Jersey 101.5.
